Real-time Ocean Data
NOAA's GOMO-funded Observing System Monitoring Center (OSMC) project combines discrete networks of in situ ocean observing platforms into a single unified system with the goal of providing quick access to real-time ocean data and measuring the effectiveness of the global observing system. The OSMC incorporates observations from platforms such as ships, floats, and tide gauges by harvesting the data from the WMO Global Telecommunications System (GTS) and serving those data through the OSMC ERDDAP data server. This allows for easy access, understanding, and use of global, operationally disseminated ocean data, which is essential for weather forecasts and ocean research.
